Are jobs for university graduates hard to get because of lack of work experience?
Trying to see if there is a need for opening up companies that are aimed at employing university graduates / taking up students for placements to help them gain work experience, get CV reference's and at the same time create a portfolio all to help them gain an edge when applying for jobs in the harsh economy.

- I feel that although university graduates are indeed going through a very difficult time in the economy, there is no rational need for such a company. First, workers can do all of the tasks that you described of their own accord. With modern technology, workers do not need a third party to place them in a job. Second, the existence of such a company does not change the simple truth that employers are simply not hiring. Third, there are already many groups that match employees with employers. They are called employment agencies. They are much better connected than you will be as the proprietor of a new company. For the above reasons, I am afraid that your idea is not viable. . A person searching for work is not likely to give up money for the services of a fledgling employment agency.
- Yes. This is true for getting into graduate schools as well. It is important for undergraduate students to get experience outside of the classroom. Getting involved in clubs on campus don't cut it these days, because many employers were undergraduates once as well, they know that school clubs are crap. Gain internships, volunteer in your aspiring field and maybe even get a part-time job. Experience is valued in any and every field. Not only that but it gives you prospective places to work after you graduate as well as great references. Unfortunately, job placement corporations do a very poor job and placing graduates. Let's face the facts: A bachelors degree is like a high school diploma as there are more graduates each year than there are jobs available in any given field. Students should plan for their future while they are in school instead of wasting time partying until last semester of senior year. An investment in your future means an investment in time as well as money.
