What things can make you stand out from other university graduates when looking for a job?

I live in the UK but say after you've graduated with an undergraduate degree and are looking for a job - what things can make you stand out from other graduates? Apart from common jobs, I mean seriously everyone has a job, so what would give you a better advantage over others? Would teaching English for a few months (or a year) in China make any difference? Is that impressive at all?

1. Only if your career involved teaching or chinese relations would that be of any use. Attitude makes you stand apart from other candidates for jobs. And previous related work experience paid or unpaid (think intership/apprenticeship).
