Accelerated promotion for university graduates in the police?

To what extent is there animosity and jealousy within police forces from officers who are not graduates and would have to work their way up the ranks of the force? Animosity towards this policy and university graduates?

1. It's no different than it would be at any other job. No matter where you work, you're going to have that one person that is jealous of how well you do your job.
2. Strangely enough, there are a lot more graduates in the police than people think. In my last team of 12 officers, 7 had degrees of some sort or another. I have served with officers on accelerated promotion, some of who were first class and others who were complete w****rs.
3. The reality of the situation is that you'll be promoted based on your policing skill not on the degree you entered with. If your rubbish at the job you'll will not make Sgt its very simple but having a degree can help you in many aspects of policing but equally its not essential.
