Places for a recent college graduate to apply for jobs?

I'm 20, I'll be graduating with a degree in biology in May. I plan on going to grad school (health care management) but not right away. I'm also looking to relocate to another city. What are some good cities to look at for jobs? And what places should go to look for jobs?

  1. The military.
  2. careers.scienceontheweb.net - I found such internship info here. It has lots of internships, job openings and scolarships for college students.
  3. Google "jobs for a biology major" and you'll get a lot more information that what you are going to get here. Check out www.usajobs.gov for government jobs in biology. With a bachelor's degree and a GPA of at least 2.95, you would qualify for GS-7. If your GPA is not that high, then complete one full year of graduate education before you try. There are a lot of job announcements for biologist, in many different agencies and cities. Once you get in and start working for the federal government, and finish up your masters, you would find it a lot easier to transfer into a federal job in healthcare management, especially in the Department of Veteran's Affairs, which has VA hospitals all over the United States. But you could just as easily start out working for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or National Fish & WIldlife or the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). If you search for "healthcare" you will find a lot of job openings, too, that could get you going in the right direction. Limit your search to GS-5 through 7, because you won't qualify for anything higher, so except to just see what lies above, applying for anything higher will be a waste of time. You will have more luck getting in through "biologist" than "healthcare" though, because many of the entry level jobs in the VA require any kind of degree, which means you will be up against many more people, many of whom are disabled veterans that must be hired instead of you. Good luck.
