Are there any legal issues if I want to host a PPV viewing party for my fellow students at my university?
I am in the planning stages of my idea to host a viewing party at my college in one of our auditoriums for WrestleMania 26 this coming March. I am trying to look for any legal issues that could arise if such an event were to take place on a public university. This event is planned to be for my university students only who would need to show their student IDs to get in.

- Yes, you have to pay specific viewing rights for showing it in a public setting. This costs about $2k.
- The first issue that comes to mind is whether there is something in the agreement between you and the PPV company that limits where and how a program is aired. There may be a limitation on the number of people or if you would be allowed to charge for entry. You should start by looking at agreement. Second, whenever you throw a big party, people can get hurt, the chip dip can be bad, or something else can go wrong. Talk to someone in event planning, but, all in all, this is a small worry.
- as long as no $$ is being paid by the guest to see it i plan parties for a living so as far as i know you can't charge a cover but you can sell drinks ect
- Only if you're charging admission to see it, otherwise, there is no limit to how many persons may view a legally-purchased program.
