How does one become a scrub nurse? I am a student about to graduate. I am very interested in working the OR.?
I am a newly minted graduate and I am very curious about this position. It is one of the nursing positions that I gets me excited about working. I have seen "RN OR interships". Does one really have to go into an internship to get into the OR? THANKS for the reply!

- Usually yes, you have to have an internship or externship in the OR. They invest a TON of money into training OR nurses who circulate and scrub. You might have up to a year's worth of orientation and coursework to complete as they train you in to do a wide variety of surgeries, depending on the facility you work for. Some hospitals have more competative programs than others. Some welcome new grads while others want some basic med/surg nursing under your belt. You'll have to shop around. Good luck!
