Where to find Photography Contract Jobs or Careers? I'm looking to break out of the cube farm and break into a photography career by either doing some spot contract work or landing a full blown photographer job. I have been told by many that I have an eye for it and have landed some contract jobs for a few magazines. Also, any insight on how to become recognized and how to find jobs is helpful! I'm mostly into nature, macro, travel, and outdoor, and panoramics. I'm open to any kind of work to get my career going!
How hard is it to find overseas contract jobs? I am looking for work overseas to help make some money. I heard you can get paid good for work overseas but I can't seem to find a site that helps me find those jobs. Can anyone tell me where to look? Also, I have no experience and only a GED.
Where can I find contract IT jobs? I did some work awhile back for a friend I lost contact with that used to bid on IT/Construction jobs on a contract basis. Basically, I upgraded computer systems (physical install and basic configuration) and pulled cable for a couple Barnes and Nobles in the middle of the night. Where can I find more bids like this and what will I need to be able to bid on this type of work?
How can I find temporary (one week contract) farming jobs? Not many farms seem to have websites. So where do I get started looking? I'd like to be able to line up a few this summer but the search has been frustrating. Picking fruit, working in the field, as long as it comes with room, board and pay, anything is cool. I know these farms exist, so help me out!
Contract work as an airplane mechanic? I'm looking into being and airplane mechanic. I'd really like a job that allows travel though. I've heard of airplane mechanics traveling to other countries for a short period of time, doing some contract work and then moving to another location when the contracts up. How common are these contract jobs? Do they pay well? How long is the typical contract job? Hours? Is it reasonable to think one could hop from one contract job to another successfully?
Are temp/contract jobs as big where you are as they are here? I'm in MN.. It seems like temp services are taking over the job market here.. Like nobody wants to hire full-time permanant workers anymore. Is it like that everywhere or where you are? Just curious.. I mean is it blowing up everywhere else.. Didn't seem like this a couple years ago..
Contract jobs .. are they worth it? I recently graduated from school and currently working on contract. My company pays well and also gives all benefits including 401, insurance, holidays, etc.. Its almost same to what other employers give in permanant positions. One of my collegue at this client company asked me if I would be interested in job in another company through his contacts (since my currently employment is at will). Should I seriously consider this option?

Air Force open contract, jobs? Ok, i went up to my recruiter yesterday to change fire protection to loadmaster after thinking and he told me that i should come back thursday cause i have to sign paperwork, and then he said i would probaly get a job next month because there are a few opening up, then i think he said theyd probaly be open contract or general, something like that...and ive been reading the questions on here and i think they gave me an open general contract to sign also, so if i refuse to take an open job will they just stall till time runs out or something to try to persuade me take it? and ive been told by a lot of ppl who were previously in the military not to take an open one even before i talked to a recruiter last year also did they change some jobs scores and categories, because when i was first looking at the computer jobs like cyber surety and stuff i could have sworn i made high enough in that area to get it but when i went to finish processing and swearing in the sgt who showed me my contract told me i didnt qualify for most of them and then they were in another area also if anyone is a loadmaster or air traffic control any info would be nice, ive been leaning towards those 2, im a computer type guy and they told me you just push the carts for loadmaster so ive been considering it now, didnt think id be good with it since im not a big muscular type just found my paper...made a 73 overall..could have made better but its done...59 in general and 72 in electronic...
Will taking a contract position set back a tech career? Will taking a contract position set back a tech career? I have worked for a technology company for 15 years. Get laid off. how are Contract jobs? Hi, there is a 12 month contract position that I am considering to take but I am not really sure how contract jobs work. I read many things online and I am all confused. Can someone explain briefly what are the ups and downs. *will I be called "independent contractor" or "self-employed" ? *is there a paper that I will be signing that indicates what my task is during 12 months?? *if I wont have all the deductions that regular employees have, like health, insurance, CPP, income tax...then how do I file my income? do I pay a huge amount when I file the income since it wont be deducted on my pay check? etc please let me know!! thanks I also wanted to ask what you think I should ask to the prospective employer when its time to sign the papers...what do I need to know before I sign the contract etc. thanks!!!
Are "Contingent Jobs," "Contract Jobs," "Temporary Jobs," and "2 Part-Time Jobs" Freedom or Slavery? Contingent labor, contract labor, temporary labor, and part-time labor, all in the interests of a new "flexible capitalism." Ideologues gussied-up this floating workforce by anointing it "free agent" labor, a euphemism designed to flatter. But the resulting reality has proved a bitter pill to swallow. To be a "free agent" today is to be free of health care, pensions, secure jobs, security in every sense. In our gilded era, downward mobility, lasting a quarter-century and still counting, has marked the social trajectory of millions of people living in the American heartland. http://www.alternet.org/workplace/83668/?page=entire This kind of "Freedom"? There are at least 8 million workers who want and need jobs but can't find them. And month after month, more than 200,000 of the jobless exhaust the benefits that have kept them going while they looked for work. Nearly 20 percent of them have been searching for more than six months, the others for an average of four months. In the meantime, the number of available jobs has been declining steadily - by 300,000 over the past six months alone. Which means there is roughly one job available for every two people who are actively seeking work, and explains why as many as one-fourth of the jobless have simply quit looking. http://www.zcommunications.org/znet/viewArticle/17538
overseas contract jobs? I'm trying to find companies that provide overseas contract IT positions. In these situations, you work? overseas for X amount of time, then you get a month or so off and the pay is excellent. Does anybody know some companies that offer this?

My Job Has Changed My Position/Jobs etc even though it states different on my contract, legal? I was unemployed for about 9 months, when I was accepted to work on a job that basically involved going around to schools and helping a member of a charity teach kids about fruit and vegetables. My position was called 'Education Assistant' because of this: Most of what I did related to helping kids learn. In the 3 and a half months I have worked there, I have had 7 sick days off, all because I was genuinely sick. On the 4th/5th, I was told I would not be working with the man I had been anymore and that I would be working in the office instead, reporting to a new mem of staff and so on. I was also given an 'official warning' and told that it seemed like I was bunking, as I had booked a day off for one of the days I was off sick previously? For one/two weeks after I had barely anything to do. My new 'manager' accuses me of bunking and frankly is two faced. I am given very boring tasks and now hate my job. I have not been given a satisfactory reason as to why I was switched off the project, and due to me having barely anything to do(and the guy I was working with being the ONLY person who gives me jobs STILL 95% of the time) I want to quit. Trouble is, I can't, because if I do I will not be allowed on benefits as it will be my fault I don't have a job. Its a contract job and ends in late december, but I am just wondering if they are legally allowed to take me out of my position and put me into something completely different and talk to me how they are,. because quite frankly I am appalled, and miserable at work now. Is there anything I can do?
Am I eligible for employment insurance if I have been working contract jobs? The last time I worked an "official" full-time job, it was in the summertime, and since then I have been working cash contract jobs. Recently I got laid off from one, but it was not considered official employment as there was no tax deduction, so there is no ROE issued. Would it count towards the eligibility of being laid off from a job? I am now working another contract job, but once again it is the same - it's my responsibility to report to CRA my income as there was no tax deductions. I'm just confused as to what is considered an official "job", as per the EI regulations.
Is it ok to resign from a contract job before the contract period completes? My friend is working on the contract job now and he still have five months left until the contract period completes. The contract says this contract can be terminated from either party by two weeks notice at anytime. Is it ok, if he resigns from the contract job before the contract period completes? Or, is this something unusual to do and causes conflicts between him and the company? He wants to leave the job ideally by the end of this year or middle of next month. The reason he wants to leave the job is personal issue and he has no issue with the job, the people he works with nor the company.
How can I get small businesses to post their IT contract jobs on my new IT recruitment site? I'm launching www.skillect.com - new IT job site focusing on contract work. How can I best get traffic to it? I want to be able to get IT jobs on www.skillect.com quickly - especially from small to medium size companies. As part of a pre-launch promotion, we are offering FREE job posting on the site for a limited period. At the moment I alone am working on this project and am finding it hard to market and promote the site as other bigger sites would. I would really appreciate some help as to how I could get small and medium business/agencies involved. I think skillect.com would be a great asset especially small firms who cannot afford to pay hundreds of pounds to agencies to post their IT vacancies online.
How do I find an electrical engineer for a contract job? Hey, Im trying to find a place (either online or somewhere else) where I can hire an electrical engineer for a small contract job. I don't want to go post a "job" on craigslist or anywhere else, simply because it is such a small job and I don't want to waste anyone's true job search efforts. The question remains though, how do I find an electrical engineer that can handle the job? Any suggestions?

Is it bad or normal to break a job contract? I'm thinking of applying for this internship, but it's for 6 months, and I was planning on moving mid next year, so will only be able to work for 4 or 5 months. Would it be bad not to tell them this, and then move later?? It's a contract job.
Would you take on a contract job if you have a full time permanent position? Hi, I am a "recent" college grad. I graduated in Oct. 2002 with a BS in Computer Information Systems. I have yet to be able to find a position directly in my field of Information Systems. Since graduating from college I have been working for a company and doing something that is not really in the field of IT. I dont make too much money (about $25K including benefits). I have found out that a lot of big companies are outsourcing their IT positions and I have been able to find a lot more Contract work and temp IT positions through IT consulting firms than just being hired directly through the company itself. Is it safe to go for a CONTRACT/TEMP position and give up my current full time and "safe" employment?
Opinions on contract jobs please? I had a job offer today to sell ads for a local magazine that I love to read. I have also been offered the opportunity to visit local events to take pictures and write articles for the magazine. It is a part time second income contract job so I work where, when and if I want to. It is paid by comission only, so I wont be giving up my full time job for this at all. I was wondering if any of ya'll have magazine ad sales exp and how do you go about it when meeting a potential client for the first time and I'd like your opinion on this opportunity. Thanks for your input.

how does contract jobs through staffing firm works? I will be meeting with the staffing agent in 4 days. They said is a long temp position (about a year) but is not a temp to hire position. Whey they said contract, is it Between the staffing agency and the real company?. I'm asking this because what if I'm in and before the year I apply to another company without the staffing services. Can I quit or dop I have to finish the hole year working through staffing agency. I'm opting for this because its getting hard to find a job with an entry level position) and i have applied to many companies, but the majority of them require 3 years or 5 years of experience. So, I wast thinking doing it through the staffing agency just to gain some experience. Im currntly working at a company that is not related to the field i sudied for and the stuffing company is going to pay me $5 more than what i'm doing right now.

I am an IT Proj Mgr in Orlando FL who is currently in a salary position making $30 per hour and because I recently acquired my PMP certification i would like to begin entertaining other offers most of which seem to be contract positions... so i would like to try and find out the most justifiable and realistic asking contract price to ensure all of my taxes, expenses, etc would be covered. Is it okay to quit a contract job? I'm looking for a job right now and all that seems available are 1-year and 2-year contract positions. I'm also considering going back to school in September. I was wondering, if I do get a contract job and I get into grad school, would it be okay to quit the contract job before 1 year is over?
How to find a temporary/contract job? I'm currently looking for a temporary/contract job that requires me to work only for a short amount of time (preferably 3 months) But, I really have no idea on how to find one. I've heard about using staffing agencies but they all seem to be scams to make money. If anyone has any information relevant to finding temporary work, it would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a website for contracting jobs in the middle east? I've heard of telecom or electrician contracting jobs in Iraq or surrounding countries. These jobs usually last a year or two and can pay up to 200k tax free. Is this true? I realize it is dangerous but if I come out alive, this can be great for my family!! Awesome, thanks Hunter.

How do I file on my taxes a contract job? I've never done this before and I am afraid I might have done this incorrectly. I worked for a Computer Learning Center during the Elections here in Utah and was paid to train Poll Workers. I was paid a little over three thousand dollars between two months. None of this was taxed. I am using Tax Act and I don't quite understand how to file this. I used the 'Non Employee' compensation section to complete this and it treated it like I owned the the business, which I don't. If anyone has any experience with this please help! Thanks. Yes I received a Form 1099-MISC Yes I received a Form 1099-MISC Yes I received a Form 1099-MISC

What is the state of IT jobs in North and Central Florida? I'd like to relocate to North or Central Florida this year...this summer would be great. I've looked at Pensacola area but it doesn't have much of an industry outside of NAS contracting jobs. Are there any other cities that offer more mainstream/permanent positions in IT/software? Maybe Tallahassee or Jacksonville? I'd even go as far as Orlando but because I'm trying to get closer to family I don't want to go any lower than that. Any recruiters out there that can provide advice?
How would I write a legal binding contract for a contract job, example: Cleaning restaurant bathrooms or...? What would be a good basis as to what to entail in a contract for contract work such as cleaning, anything...houses, restaurants, restaurant bathrooms, etc. What actually makes it binding, and would it need some type of notarization. Do contracts have to go through a lawyer, or can I just make one my self. Does it not become binding if both parties agree to it and sign? What would be a good layout or what kinds of things or clauses might it need to contain if any? Thanks....
Are you required to pay Prevailing Wages for state contract jobs? My husband is a HVAC (refrigeration) Technician and has been working a contracted state job for several weeks now. The current prevailing wage for our county in Nevada is $33.04/hr in his position, but he's only getting paid $24.06/hr. My husband actually found the prevailing wage info on the computer at his work that belongs to the bookkeeper (yes, they surf the web on it with his boss/owner so it was okay for him to be on it). Is this legal for them to not pay the prevailing wage? Are they required to only pay a % of what the prevailing wage is? There is another, more experienced, employee who is making the same $24.06/hr rate and he's beyonded angry. If this isn't legal, what do you suggest we do? Please, no stupid answers! Yes, I verified the rate on his pay stubs and it is $24.06/hr before taxes. I also have spent the last 2 hours on the internet researching information. According to the labor commissioner, his prevailing rate is indeed $33.04/hr for us. The interesting thing to me is that they ARE paying him prevailing wages. It states "prevailing wages" for this specific job on his pay stub since his pay rate is different than either of these amounts. So if they are paying him prevailing wages, shouldn't it match what the labor commission states the rate should be?
How do you find contractor jobs in financial services? ? I currently work in financial services as a broker but want to find out about contracting jobs. Hired for a contract job --- can I get back on unemployment once contract expires? I lost my full time job and am currently collecting unemployment. I signed a contract to do some temporary work through next year. The money I will be making will exceed the amount I am allowed to earn while collecting unemployment. But once my contract expires, it's my understanding that I can go back on unemployment until I find full-time work. Is this correct?
Are contract workers eligible for raises? I just accepted a contract job with Adecco Technical working at the GE facility. The pay is good, but it could be better. If I am under contract for a year, can I negotiate raises during this time...or will I just have to wait for a future assignment to ask for more money?

My husband is considering taking a contract job for DynCorp in Afghanistan, and I just wanted to get some input from someone who has either done this themselves or had a spouse who did. How to turn down a contract offer? I interviewed at a company for a contract-to-perm position and got the contract job. We've already had an initial project meeting and I've started work on the project for a couple of days, but they only sent me the paper contract to sign and return yesterday (which I have not done yet). This is a non-critical project as it is for their own company website. The problem is, now I have a much better offer from a company I like alot better, and is paying much more. With the proposed start date I would not be able to complete the contract project. I like the people there, and do not want to part on a bad note. 1) Is it inethical for me to turn down the contract now that work has already been started for two days, though the contract has not been signed? 2) How do I turn it down politely?

Declining job contract extension amounts to resignation? I am in the UK and on a job in which the contract gets renewed every few months. The current contract will be ending soon, but I have received a letter from the employer saying they are extending the contract by another few months. However, I do not want to extend it. So if I don't sign and return the contract extension letter, would it be equivalent to resigning from the job, or would it count as the job coming to an end due to the end of contract?

I live in Knoxville, TN, and I would be occasionally traveling back home to see my wife & kids, maybe once or twice a month. How much should I add on top of my base rate to cover travel from Hawaii?

However, I'm interviewing for a full time position at another company. If I get the job offer for this other company, can I decline/quit the contract job? If so, will that ruin any chance I'll have of working at the 1st place later in life? I won't know anything about this other job until after I start work at the 1st one. Should I just start work at this contract job, and quit when/if the full time job is offered to me.
