Anyone know where I can get a salary and benefits survey for insurance sales jobs? I have a Mid-Term Case in my Comp and Benefits class and this is whats required: Your company Mega Insurance sells a broad line of property and casualty insurance to consumers in the Midwestern US. It is headquartered in Chicago IL and has branch offices in IL, MO, IA, KS, IN, and OH. They have always paid a strict commission as a compensation plan, and provided health insurance for employees and families. The founder Mr. Bruce Burton recently retired and his new replacement (Dirk Henthorne) wants a recommendation for a new compensation and benefits plan. Your job as a consultant to his company is to recommend a plan that helps attract and retain a high quality sales force. First, do a salary and benefits survey (online) to get some idea of competitive pay and benefit plans. Then draft a proposal for Mr. Henthorne to take to his board. I just can't find any free ones online...

How do I stop getting sales/insurance job solicitations on-line? I've posted my resume on-line - I have considerable experience in administration and office support - nothing even remotely involved with sales work. Yet, all I get, especially with Monster, are sales and/or commission insurance openings. Why does this occur, and how can I stop it? (I already tried putting "NO SALES OR INSURANCE WORK, PLEASE" in the posting - it's ignored.) I am doing more than just putting resumes on-line; unless you are unemployed, you have no idea how hard it is to find work.
Looking for personal lines Insurance sales job in Los Angeles or San Fernando Valley.? I was recently laid off my last insurance sales position due to the economy. I had a base salary, benefits, and bonus. Now I am looking for another similar job and it seems that most of the agencies are just hiring agents to work for commission. Does anyone know of specific companies in my area that have base plus commission? The job I had was also in a call center and the majority of the calls were inbound.
Should you reply to emails recruiting for financial or sales jobs? My resume is completely unrelated to sales or finance. I've received several emails from recruiters about financial or insurance jobs, who say they've reviewed my resume on a career site. Some of them have even sent follow up emails when my email reply didn't get through. Are these legit jobs, and should I just call them out or courtesy, even if I'm looking for a job in an unrelated area.

Sales jobs in the insurance/financial services industry? I don't know if this is something I applied for cuz I apply for so many, tho I don't think I did, but I got an email from farmers for a farmers insurance career opportunity in sales in farmers insurance and financial services. I don't like the idea of a commision job tho if it is a decent opportunity with real income potential then I am certainly willing to look at something even if it doesn't totally use my acconting degree. I am unemployed with a bsba and no experience so I am struggling. However they really seem to be selling the job and that makes me skeptical cuz y do u need to sell me on a job in this economy? Anyways any insight would be appreciated.

It seems like a good business, its been around a long time, but Im worried because it is commission based. Now, working with kids I only make around 1200-1500 a month, which isnt much, so I wont need to make awesome sales to be happy, but does this sound like a good opportunity or like I am being a sucker.
Is it immoral to recruit for commission only sales jobs? I get morally burned out when I constantly tell people they can make so much money in insurance sales because I did but I'm good at it! only about one out of 30 people that I recruit make an amazing living doing this but the other 29 seem to waste their time. What job opportunites are available in a Insurance Company? I have a degree in BSC Corporate management and am now studying a certificate program as a medical biller and coder (no job experience though). Obviously, "insurance companies" pop out all the time while studying to be a coder and led me to think of the job opportunities there (at the other side of the fence, if you may). Aside from the usual Insurance Agent (that's responsible for insurance sales), what other jobs can I get without going through another certificate program and what does those jobs entail and there estimated salary? Thanks.
why is every company only offering sales jobs right now? every job fair i go to is the same thing with each company. The insurance companies are looking for financial advisers, verizon was looking for door to door sales people, cablevision was looking for the same. Are these the only jobs available right now and should i just do one of these? Because it's really getting frustrating not have a job.
Is selling mortgage protection insurance a good job? I have been offered a job selling mortgage protection insurance. All sales leads are pre-generated and there is no "cold calling." Is this a waste of time?

Does anyone know of a good book on direct sales, if possible relating to insurance sales? I am looking for a good book that I can get some ideas out of for my new job. It doesn't have to be about insurance sales, but if you know a particularly good book I'd love to hear about it.
What does a sales/marketing position at an insurance company mean? I mean beyond the obvious, what kind of work would I have to do? I got a job offer but I don't know if I should even bother with it because it sounds to good to be true. They are saying up to 80k/yr. It's a legit company I looked it up and all, but are insurance sales positions commission based?
I got offered a job as an Insurance Sales Associate at Mass Mutual. Should I take it? Hi, I am 22 years old and I recently got out of the military a few months ago. Before I got out, I had $10,000 saved up to last me a few months. It's pretty much all gone now and I've been in need of a job while I go to school. I've submitted my resume in to at least 10 places (which all have to do with electronics like Test Repair Operator, Electrical Maintenance Technician, Electronic Mechanical Assembler. I plan to major in Electrical Engineering). I haven't gotten back one response and I am not willing to work at a fast food joint or retail department. A friend recommended me to his manager about being hired and trained as a sales associate for the insurance firm, Mass Mutual. I don't know a thing about sales or general business for that matter, but my friend ensured me that this is a good thing and that I will learn in the next coming weeks if I do join. One of the benefits is that I'll be able to pursue my college career since I'll be working independently and on my own terms. Needing a job while I attend college, I said why not. Today, I went in and talked to the manager. We ended up talking for over 3 hours. He is prior military himself so we had a fun talk. He wants to hire me as soon as possible. I don't have a college degree yet, but the manager still wants to hire me. Is this too good to be true? I met two of the younger associates that work there. They are around my age; both 23. They both have their college degrees. The manager showed me charts of how much Mass Mutual makes, how much a sales associate can make in a year and all the benefits the company provides. This all seems like an extremely good deal, but I heard selling insurance is one of the worst jobs out there. Also, if I were to take on this job, what is the likelihood that I would be able to go to school part-time and still earn at least 1 sale every week? I know this is personal, but would I even like it? I am more into electronics and computers. That is why I have plans to major in Engineering. Thanks. I'm sure I have more questions but I can't think of any right now.
Is doing a sales job as a BDM etc. in a pvt. insurance company akin to a government job? Does a sales job in a insurance company like TATA AIG,AVIVA / ING VYASA / Birla Life insurance, Metlife etc.same as doing a government job? I mean not a agent's job,but above that in rank like SM/BDM( Don't know whether their job profile & stabilty are same as in pharma companies) . What would be a better job choice: insurance sales or banking officer? I've been working in graphic design for 8 years and I'm looking to make a change toward a job that has more structure and that operates in a more logical fashion (too much subjectiveness in the art world for my tastes). I'm organized, trustworthy, and friendly. Not the most outgoing guy, but I feel for either job you don't have to be completely in peoples' faces. It seems to be more a matter of accurately telling customers about policies and signing them up after they feel comfortable (as opposed to "you NEED to buy this!!!" kind of sales). I have no prior banking experience, so I'm leaning more toward insurance. However, I don't know how the stress level of one job compares to the other, or what the job outlooks are in general. I also have no prior experience doing either job except for 8 years of sales/customer service in the graphic design field. There aren't extensive degree requirements for either job. If anybody has any experience in either of these fields and can give me some personal stories I would greatly appreciate it. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!
Are insurance sales agents going to be around forever? My husband is looking into becoming an insurance sales agent and I am wondering if anyone thinks this job will eventually become obsolete due to the younger generations getting their insurance online. We are 25 and the only reason we have an insurance agent is because he is a family friend, otherwise we would have gotten it online. I would hate for my husband to invest a lot of time and money opening his own agency if the industry is going to completely change eventually.
Why do I only get calls for sales jobs? I've had a resume put up on career builder for a few years. In the last year I've been getting emails and phone calls from insurance companies and other company that tell me they saw my resume and think I would be a good sales rep, account executive, or any other fancy name they give to a bullshit artist. The one thing that has me scratching my head is what is it about my resume that would make me good at sales. The only experience I have is in industrial jobs and security. What gives?
With M.Sc and B.Sc, should I accept a job in Insurance Sales? I got my M.Sc and B.Sc in Genetics and Molecular biology over 10 years ago and since then, I haven't really updated my knowledge. I resigned from my job as a lab assistant ($40K) 6 months ago and since then, I haven't found any job. I am applying every day but I can't find a job. I live in San Diego. I hate laboratory work, I have several years doing telesales which wasn't too bad. So on Monday I have an interview for insurance sales closer. They pay $1000 pcm base salary + commission, the guy said their agents are making from $4000 to $11,000 per month. It's an inside sales and they are generating leads through their website, so all warm calling. Do you think if they offer me, I should get it? I feel pretty bad because I studied something that is not useful.

Is a career in Insurance sales a good decision? My husband currently works in restaurant management. Good pay,but he works every other day for 16 hrs. on his feet. The company just hired a new district manager & is now trying to show his authority. My husband has been with the company for 2 years and enjoys the customer service aspect, but as many of you know, restaurant management is very difficult. He has been given an offer to make a career change in insurance sales. They said they would give him 1/4 of their existing clients and mentor him to start out. We would have to try to adjust to a 1099 lifestyle. He would also be home every night with his family and home on weekends, which never happens now. Is this a wise career move? Just wondering if anyone could give some advice or questions he should ask before accepting this job. Thanks in advance for the help!

Is it possible that if you work very hard that you can make it selling P&C Ins in MI? I have had nothing but success in my sales career thus far. I am 25 years old, and I work as an insurance sales rep... Is my pay to low? Am I being cheated? I only get paid $9.00/hr, I am supposed to work 40 hours a week, but due to being a single mother, and having 2 sick kids, I average about 30-35..... I used up all my paid sick days in the 1st month after I went full time...... I am going on vacation next week, and they are only giving me 3 paid days, due to their generosity, they made it clear I had not earned that. I work my tail off here, and they said they cannot stand it when I am out of the office because of the work load I pull, then why do they not compensate me for it, I have NO benefits, and none have been discussed..... SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME SHOULD i LOOK FOR ANOTHER JOB? Panama said that just because I'm a single mother doesn't mean I deserve special treatment...... Let me ask you something..... Do you have children? Do you have one child who has respitory problems???? Single mothers or fathers I believe do deserve a little bit better concern and privelage, we do not have that "extra" help...... Blah, some people just don't understand.... and I do work my butt off when I'm here. Wow sounds like I am just a sorry employee for giving it my ALL and trying my HARDEST.... Sometimes I wonder why I even try...... but all I can do is all I can do, and if they don't want me here they can fire me, they have never ever threatened my job, I just feel that after almost 2 years of this and doing my BEST, I should be compensated if I'm such a good worker, and they need me here when I CANNOT BE b/c my SON is not BREATHING well and I have to administer breathing treatments every hour, and i do not have other child care............ What do other people do? Anyone else w/the same problems as I? I mean how do you make it? How do you get by? I'm trying to better myself after being a drug addict for 6 years, and being sober now for a wonderful blessed 3 years....... Anyone struggle w/this? Or am I just a sorry employee like half of ya'll have made it sound like? I am partially licensed, I have to take the property test and then I will have both P&C. I am crossed trained in commercial and personal lines. I do all the quoting, claims, new buisness, payments, customer service, answer phones, file..... you name it I do it.
Can anyone tell me if an insurance sales job is worth it in this economy? I'm about to go on an interview for some large company selling insurance. I haven't really done such a job before so I'm not sure if this will even be worth it? They all seem kinda scammish as they require several weeks of no pay and I have to pay and get a state license? Also, will anyone even be buying much insurance until the economy improves? Thanks for any advice on this. Forgot to add. I think it's like property, casualty, life insurance ... not auto or health.
