Anyone tried to transfer electrical apprenticeship credits to community college? Has anyone in Colorado attended the electrical apprenticeship program through Emily Griffith Opportunity School and tried to transfer your credits to a community college for credit towards an associates degree? Is there a way to get around the electrical apprenticeship program and just start working? I worked in hardware retail for 10 years. Did some electrical side jobs and I even wired a whole house completely (including the panel) and it passed 3 electrical inspections. If I know what I'm doing, why do I need to jump through all the same hoops? Are there any other avenues? Like maybe a company that trains a little but expect you to know the basics? Does anyone have any ideas?

Are there Electrical jobs that don't require extensive travel? I almost got into an Apprenticeship Program, but they told me I would have to travel to work pretty much anywhere in Kentucky at any time. And they wouldn't help pay any gas expenses. Does anyone know where to get a "adult wage" (not $200 p/w) electrical apprenticeship in Adelaide??? My boyfriend is wanting to do an electrical apprenticeship in Adelaide but the thought of him having to live of a couple of hundred dollars a week is putting us off. Like all of you, we have bills, rent, petrol, general car running costs and every day expenses to pay, we just cannot live of that small amount money... I work full time as well but I'm also having to pay off stupid debts i have rung up, so i cant help him out as i have all the above plus more to pay each week :( If you know of a company or recruiting agency in Adelaide who will pay adult wages, please let me know! Were desperate, and he is so over the dead end job he is working in now! Please, any ideas would be a great help

How would I find work as an electrical apprentice in london? I am working as an electrician in Ireland at the moment. I never finished my apprenticeship due to a number of reasons. I was looking into a city and guilds course in London to get qualified, only problem is I will need to be working full time aswell. Finding work as an electrician in London is difficult when you dont have qualifications. Does anyone know if there are recruiters in london for this?
Qualifications required to be an electrition in UK? I have almost finished my electrical engineering apprenticeship and I'm interested in perhaps following up with a domestic electrition route and working for myself. My question is what qualifications, if any, are required to do this? Are there any needed by law or can anyone doing providing they have public liability insurance? I'm sure any qualifications will be easy enough for me to complete with my electrical apprenticeship under my belt. Some direction would be great and perhaps information on starting up working self employed.
If I get an electrical apprenticeship though the air force in Australia, will I be employed when I get out? I'm looking to be an electrician in Australia, as my means of falling back in case my pilot career doesn't take off. Learning the trade through the army or air force looks promising, it doesn't take as long and the pay is much better than if I were to do a civilian apprenticeship. I will have over 200k after the 6 years if I do this. I also love the idea of the military because of all the other benefits like tax free pay, traveling, food and accommodation paid for, free medical treatment etc. The one thing I am concerned about is how employers see this in the civilian world, I'm curious about whether employers will be less likely to employ me because I was trained in the military rather than the regular way. I know that in the military my training will be focused on the military, and not on the types of things a regular electrician would be doing. My uncle is a supervisor in the mining industry, and he said they tend not to employ people trained in the military because they lack the civilian experience, even though straight out of the military they have been working as a qualified electrician for 4 years. So my question is will this hurt me, and what will my chances for a job be, if I was just out of the forces with 2 years training and another 4 years working as an electrician, compared to somebody just out of a 4 year apprenticeship or perhaps working 1 or 2 years after? Also note that moving to America is something I have been considering, so anybody with knowledge of whether I will find employment in the states will be helpful too.

stay as a electrician or be a Electrical engineer? I am currently starting my electrical apprenticeship with a company (working for them for 4months now). I have already done all my theory work and have a achieved my certificate for it(level2,3,4) but the problem is whether I should stop at this stage or continue my study to be a electrical engineer. I have till this month and begin of semester (March) to think about whether i should study and be a engineer. I am 24 already but I don't mind continuing studying or whether its not worth it and just stay to be a electrician. i understand that electrician do earn a good salary wage but it can be tiring at times for i have experienced it but i do enjoy the work but then again im unsure if EE will offer me something better. thanks!
apprenticeships v university?? iam in my first year in an electrical engineering apprenticeship where once i finish my time i will have technician qualifications (HNC). iam still considering uni though, the thing is i see my friends coming back from uni saying wat a great time they have been having, and to be honest the social side of things and the independance is very appealing. This makes me think regularly, should i be going to uni?! i dont think i have the grades to get into most decent courses, and i realise that there is no real point in going unless i would get a decent qualification out of it. but there is always the chance that because i have played sport at a high level for my age groups then i might get accepted for courses that i would not normally. So is there any point in me thinking about it seen as i might not get a decent degree out of it?? Or should i stick with my apprenticeship and stop being jealous of my mates who have a great time????? the thing is i have never realy knew exactly what i wanted to do so this has made things difficult

Would the armed services be worth it? I'm 24. I'm working as a full-time electrician. I have survived nearly 12 layoffs at my company. I have 2 1/2 years of college schooling as a heavy equipment operator, no degree but a certification. I'm currently attending an electrical apprenticeship program. I have a CDL Class A. And... a mortgage - not married - no children. I've done quite a bit of research on my own... It appears the CDL jobs keep disappearing and the electrical jobs are non-existant. My company is losing work right and left. Any advice would be much welcomed.
